6th ESACP Congress,Heidelberg,April 7-11,1999 |
Apr.2,1999:

program overview
- please send all email to the
6thESACP Congress Secretariat
in Heidelberg from Apr.5 onwards.
- the earlier announced situation maps

- the contents of the apoptosis tutorial

- the electronic tutorial registration has marked a certain number of
registrants but in a significant number of cases we do not know
which of the tutorials was selected
- the three tutorials on apoptosis,
telelearning and DNA image cytometry will be offered in parallel
between 13.30-16.30h on Wednesday, Apr.7
in the Communication Center of the DKFZ
- if you are interested in one of the tutorials please come on Wednesday around
noon to the registration desk in order to organise the distribution
of the tutorial participants
Mar.25,1999:
- suggestions for exchanges of contributions between or within
sessions
can be made until Friday, Mar.26 18.00h at the latest
to assure the correct fabrication of the printed programs until the
begin of the congress.

- the scientific program has been supplemented with time allocations for all sessions
- several late abstracts will be shortly made available

- Congress Buildings/Location Maps
Mar.20,1999:
- the comparison between the increasing number of paid registrations
and the lower number of received hotel room reservations
shows presently a significant discrepancy.
- the organizers want to reemphasize that participants of the 6thESACP
congress should clearly not entertain the illusion
that hotel rooms can be booked upon arrival in Heidelberg at the
registration desk. Heidelberg is a touristically as well as scientifically
very busy city with a relatively limited number of hotel rooms.
- free hotel rooms can be on-line booked on a daily basis in
the office of the
Verkehrsverein
(Official Heidelberg Tourist Office)
which is located on the place in front of the Heidelberg railway station.
Business hours are between: 9-19h (Monday to Saturday)/10-18h (Sunday).
In addition, general informations on Heidelberg, touristic material,
city maps are available. Furthermore, excursions tickets as well as
tourist tickets for public transport or
"Heidelberg Cards"
(transport + free access to museums, Heidelberg castle etc) can be
bought.
- the only possible action from the congress registration desk is to
telephone from hotel to hotel for free rooms. This is relatively
hopeless after 12 o'clock noon, especially in case of overcomplete
hotels.
- nevertheless, nobody in search of a hotel room will in all likelihood
remain in the streets overnight, but it may be necessary to take
local trains or expensive outside city taxi rides in
the evenings to hotels in Mannheim or Ludwigshafen.
Not only are such hotels comparatively far away, they may not correspond
at all to the intentions of the participants concerning both location
and price.
- Conclusion & Urgent Recommendation: if you need a hotel room
for the meeting, please book it soon !
