- Internet performance depends on available data transfer speed (bandwidth).
- Waiting times can be shortened by FTP-download of compressed web-pages, image and audio/visual files, by www-mirror sites or for example by the distribution of red button CD-ROMs
- While CD-ROMs are of interest for periodic updates of mass data like image, audio/visual, software, data repositories, and educational files (e.g. red button STEP, red button SPI) or company information with catalogues, FTP-transfer or www-mirror approaches are useful for day to day updates

- Cytometric laboratories can make their .html and multimedia files available for download from their site by providing a single .ZIP file on their Internet server.

Download the zip-file and, follow the instructions (PC) to access text and graphics on your harddisk by the Internet browser, free of network delays.
